Korean Drama: Fated to Love You Episode 17 Summary and Review

Alright, so we are now nearing the end of Mi Young and Gun's suffering. We all know that they will still end up together, but what they are going through to get there is too much.

I have never cried so hard while watching a drama episode, maybe for a movie but not a mere episode, my bad, make it two episodes: Episode 12 and 17. I was so anxious to watch episode 17 that I even watched the raw unsubbed version but I still cried, even more after the subs have been released. 

Its been a while since I wrote  an episode summary/review, so I will try my best to put important details into it. Like I said I will write one for dramas/episodes that I liked and loved. This one is on the top along with Episode 12. 

Before we go to episode 17, let me just have a brief recap of what happened since episode 12. If you can remember in Episode 12, Gun decided to end their relationship without telling Mi Young the real reason behind it.  This made Mi Young hate and avoid him even when they had to work together for the company. Episode 12 was probably the most important episode of the drama since it was then that we can see that Gun really loved her but does not want to hurt her when the time comes he die because of his disease. It's a selfish stupid thing to do and all throughout the following episodes we see both of them suffering and trying to sort out or hide their feelings for each other.
Comes Episode 17 where the answer to what Mi Young had been looking for has been revealed. Unfortunately, it was not a slow revelation as everything came to her as if she was having information overload because of what she found out:

• Lee Young Ja is really Lee Gun, but Gun is not giving her the real reason why he disguised himself as an Unni.

• Mi Young clearly has feelings for Gun as evidenced by the painting of a body of a man full of the lollipop that she gave to Gun back in Macau. This painting was definitely symbolizes Gun. 

• Mi Young got confused of what Gun said that everything he said as Lee Young Ja was a lie when she found a letter written by Gun as Lee Young Ja. In the letter as Lee Young Ja, he said that she will always like her and the painting has made given her the strength to move on. Everything written on the  letter was supported by the text messages hey exchanged. This made Mi Young know that Gun was lying about his feelings.

• She went to ask Gun about the letter but again, he pretended to act cool and denied what he wrote there. Lawyer Hong talked with Mi Young about the status of her relationship with Gun and was struggling to tell her about the disease. In the end he slipped the recorder in Mi Young's purse so she could listen to it . This move was very important as it gave Mi Young a clue about what is really going on with Gun. Way to go Lawyer Hong!

• It was Se Ra's turn to confess and apologize about what she has do to them. She apologized for giving her a false divorce statement and wanted to tell her about her about Gun's condition but hesitated. She did this because she knew that Gun will really not go to her.

• On their way to the airport, Daniel detoured and turned the car away from the direction of the airport and went to Gun's house. Daniel told her that this is best thing he can do for her. He wants her to talk to Gun and ask him what is really going on with him.  This is the only way she can finally find the answer and be happy again. 

• Gun was not at home when Mi Young arrived and she waited inside the room where she previously stayed, Gun's room. There she reminisced about their happy times together and went into the secret room that Gun told her not to ever go into. There sh found the baby's crib as well as Gae Dongie's things. She played the video recordings of Gun where she eventually figured out everything. She also found out that Gun still loves her and was hurting for the last three years they have been apart and wanted so much to be with her. She cried and broke down. 

Episode  17 was like the opposite of episode 12. It was Mi Young's turn to cry all her might. Gun had his share in so many times but it was all his doing. He suffered alone. Now that Mi Young knows about his condition, all she could do was to blame herself for not knowing that. We cannot blame any of them as they were only thinking about the feelings of the other person but I what I cannot stand is their selfishness. 

As I watched Gun tell Mi Young that he was Lee Young Ja, I wanted to slap him for lying and not telling her the truth. Now that he knew Mi Young still has feelings for him, why pretend and suffer alone?
