Episode 16 Pretty Boy

As promised, this is the summary of the most awaited finale of Pretty Boy. Drama ended on January 9, 2014. 

 Bo Tong was truly hurt after Ma Te told her to disappear from his life and torn the photo of the mother who raised him. She was crying as she walked down the street. Ma Te was also hurting inside because he has to let go of Bo Tong to protect her from Na Hong Ran.

Ma Te went to see the chairman to tell him the password but did not bring her with him.  The chairman commended him for not bringing Bo Tong.

Ma Te contacted Yeo Min to know about Na Hong Ran. And he learned the story of Na Hong Ran's anger. Meanwhile, Na Hong Ran is sitting with Deuk Sang to have a deal with him. He needs to get all the contracts of Bo Tong Company in exchange for hi getting a bar under his name.

David Took Bo Tong outdoors to the seaside for some unwinding and talk. He tried to in Bo Tong's heart bust she really does not want to give it to anybody else. It only belongs to Ma Te. David understood it this time and still refused to stop loving her.

At the office, the prosecutor's office is filing legal charges against the company and they found out that the contracts are nowhere to be found. Ma Te is being investigated to have acquired shares from the SS group illegally. Bo Tong learned what happened to the company and went to see David. She asked him if he can be by his side since she cannot see him anymore. David then told her that she was the password that he was looking for and apologized for not telling her this because he was afraid that she will run to him, which she actually did. David was left in the room crying alone.

Bo Tong rushed in Ma Te's apartment and immediately told him that she will stay by his side. Ma Te was not able to do anything and just hugged her back.

At the office, Bo Tong seemed to feel awkward towards David but David still is the lively type to keep his cool.  Prosecutor Lee Kim came into the office to offer them legal help as an attorney. Prosecutor Lee acquired information that MG group is the one responsible for their problems right now. But she cannot use it as evidence because it was obtained illegally.

Deuk Sang was sorry that he gave the contract to Na Hong Ran and was willing to surrender himself to the police but Ma Te said he will be the one to punish him. So he has to live long to get that punishment.

David and Bo Tong went to see Park Moon Soo to ask him to look into the case since MG group was the one responsible for it. He assured them that he will make it right if it was indeed MG group's doing. Bo Tong found out David's identity from Park Moon Soo. As promised Park Moon Soo did the investigation and MG group took responsibility for their actions. Na Hong Ran is mad knowing she's been had by the Ma Te.

Bo Tong's mother came to the office bringing food to Ma Te. They talked about the mother who gave birth to him. She told him that Na Hang Ran must have loved him since she gave him that identical watch when he was a baby. Bo Tong's mother assured him that Na Hong Ran is really not a bad person but she became that way because of what has happened to her. Bo Tong's mother also told him that if a person is really sorry, it is really difficult for them to say they are sorry. Ma Te pondered on the words that Bo Tong's mother told him and he realized he should apologize to Na Hong Ran. 

Ma Te went to see Na Hong Ran and apologized to her for being born. This is when her wall shattered and she breaks down and cried her heart out. I loved the way she tried to call out Ma Te's name but she was speechless.

The chairman then told her that he doesn't have a long life because his illness is no longer incurable. She was shocked hear this from the chairman and then worried on what she can do. The chairman assured her that she has the children, all three of them.

Na Hong Ran returned the watch to Ma Te saying that he has to keep it with his always and that she was really sorry to have made him feel sorry for his existence.

Fast-forward to a year later and we see that Na Hong Ran is looking after the sick chairman and she resigned from the company to take care of the chairman. Yoo Ra is doing well with the coffee business. While Ma Te is no longer going to the office, He divided his shares to David and Bo Tong.

Next, we see Bo Tong going to the Bo Tong Galbi restaurant that he runs and Ma Te is waiting for her.

David was not left hanging. He too gets to find a girl who seems to fit his standard. He met her at the highway and she hitched on David's car forcefully after she said she was cold from glamping.

Going Back to Bo Tong and Ma Te, he hid a ring to the lettuce leaf that he fed Bo Tong. Bo Tong acted out that she swallowed it and she needs to go to the hospital to open up her stomach to get the ring. As they were going out, she jokingly said, "ta-da" and

Ma Te just grabs her and kissed. It was a soft kiss, not typical of Jang Geun Suk kisses. It was sweet and just right for Bo Tong's character.

 

The drama ended unexpectedly. I thought 16 episodes would not be enough to fix loose ends. But it ended naturally and everything is in its place, the way it should be. Sad that the ratings of this drama is not as good as its counterpart but then Kudos for a wonderful ending. Really, I cried at the part of  Ma Te beung sorry for his existence. It was not his fault at all. It just shows that a mother really cannot win against thier children no matter how mad they are at them. Parents always have to give in at some point.

Looking forward to Jang Geun Suk's next drama. I wish he would do historical drama. I'd love to see him in traditional Korean dress. :)
